AUTOMATION SYSTEMS, CHANIA, CRETE

The wiring infrastructure for automated lighting is the same as that which we would use if we were building our home in the conventional way. Therefore, in this case, the home’s electrician can carry out the installation using the conventional method still in use today.

The only additional element required, which is not found in an older, conventional installation, is the ‘neutral’ wire, which should ideally be incorporated into the switch.

Companies that manufacture PowerLine systems have, of course, identified this problem and have developed appropriate products that do not require the 220V ‘neutral’ to be connected to the switch.

There are dozens of different products, each offering a unique solution for every situation. For example, if we want to control a lighting circuit, we can use the corresponding component (micromodule) behind the switch we have already selected and control it via the various controllers we have available. In the case of a two-way switch, for example, there is a corresponding micromodule to be installed behind the switch. Our product range also includes switches with indicators to provide a clearer indication of the lighting status.

In line with the system’s philosophy, no additional components need to be installed in the home apart from the units behind the switches (such as, for example, systems inside the distribution board).

Here, the customer can choose switches of their choice from the wide range available on the market from many brands, such as Vimar, Legrand, etc.

All the systems offered by our company are wired. Data is transmitted via the existing 220V electrical wiring in the home. The system can also be operated wirelessly using systems that receive RF signals from remote controls.

The systems can be installed at any time within the home, bearing in mind that the wiring already in place is conventional, meaning that the home can function normally even without the automation systems (a ‘no-obligation’ system). An example of such an installation

NO. The only modifications are made behind the wall switches and solely inside the switch box, without causing any damage to the walls of the property.

Of course, the installation of the lighting automation system can be carried out in stages, allowing the user to select the areas they wish to have fitted at any given time.

Our company has its own installation teams to provide the best possible service to our customers. However, if your electrician is already at your home, they can carry out the installation themselves, as the process is simple and quick.

Installation relating to lighting is generally simple and quick. In other words, if we’re talking about 20 lighting circuits, the installation can be completed within a day, in the case of a standard domestic installation.

All smart home materials come with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty, including replacement of the equipment.

Our company provides a 2-year guarantee of proper operation for the applications it has installed in your home, including on-site support. This guarantee can be extended based on the ‘annual maintenance contract’ for the equipment.

There are several ways to control them. There are several products available to help you control your lights. Some of these are table-top controls, which are surprisingly simple to install, as all you need to do is plug them into a socket in your home. This means the user can move them to wherever they wish or even use more than one, as they are inexpensive. These controls transmit data via the 220V mains supply to operate the switches in the home, so no additional equipment is required.

For more demanding users, there are also programmable controllers (computer-based and simple ones), which allow the user to create multiple automation scenarios. For example, by using the alarm’s peripherals, such as motion sensors, the user can automatically switch on the lights in the room when motion is detected and at pre-set times as desired (the alarm does not need to be armed, as the motion sensors are always active).

They can also monitor their home via wireless displays, such as a tablet PC or UMPC running Windows XP, and control their home both on-site and remotely via the Internet.

Smart Home installations are now affordable for everyone. The Smart Home offers users a range of functions, and using this as a guide, everyone can choose the features that best suit their needs.

In most cases, the cost amounts to 1 per cent of the property’s value, and can reach up to 3 per cent for the most demanding users.

For example, for a 100-square-metre home, the customer could opt for some basic applications, keeping the cost to less than 1 per cent. Ask us about the ready-made solutions offered by our company.

Most importantly, the interested party can create their own smart home in stages; for instance, if they have 10 lighting circuits, they can start by automating five (5) of them and then the rest. This is because the wiring required is the standard type that would be used in a normal home.

The technology on which the automation solution we offer is based is simple and accounts for 75 per cent of Smart Home installations in the US, 70 per cent in the UK, and over 35 per cent in Europe, with an upward trend of around 25 per cent over the last two (2) years.
